Christmas Poetry

The Christmas Story

Long time ago in Nazareth,

Mary was engaged to Joseph,

An angel, Gabriel came from the sky.

He told her of the special child,

An infant that is sweet and mild.

They had to go to Bethlehem,

But when they arrived it was complete mayhem,

They began to panic as no room was in view,

Things were hectic as the baby was due.

A stable was offered by an innkeeper kind,

They accepted as no other room they could find.

Jesus was born in a manger of hay,

Quietly and sweetly in a stall he lay.

Meanwhile out on a hill nearby,

On their sheep shepherds were keeping an eye.

Suddenly a host of angels appear,

Telling them the baby was quite near.

They travelled to Bethlehem to visit the boy,

The child then brought the shepherds great joy.

The wise men came from afar,

On their way they followed a star.

They brought valuable gifts,

Gold, Frankincense and myrrh.

They gather around the baby tiny,

Lying in the manger the young child needy.

Jesus

One night ago in Bethlehem, children

A very special man was born,

He was born in a stable no house or palace

It was also where the lambs where born,

Three wise men came and gave him gifts

What a lucky boy was he?

You see he was a king a ruler you know,

A very important man to be,

So you see children, he was not a man like you,

He was born in a stable with a job to do.

In a Stable

He could have had a palace

He could have had a crown

Instead he had a stable

With angels all around

An angel came to the shepherds

And told them news of joy

They travelled at once to Bethlehem

To see the baby boy

While all this was happening

Some wise men saw a star

They followed it to Bethlehem

Bringing gifts from afar
